Security watchers Marshal claim the infamous Storm botnet is no more, after spam emails finally dried up altogether last month.
Other security researchers warn that while the botnet is currently inactive it may yet return, possibly in a more potent form.
The malware used to create zombie clients within the Storm botnet first began circulating in January 2007.
Over time the gang behind the Storm worm developed a variety of different social engineering lures, including fake electronic greeting cards. No new campaigns have been launched for a month.
