The Internet regulator Icann has unanimously voted in favour of relaxing the rules on Top Level Domain names.

Due to the expansion of the Internet there is a limited number of IP addresses and domain names. Icann has ruled in favour of registering unique Top Level Domain names in order to create more choice.

The new system is thought to be coming into practice next year, but Icann has admitted there may be many problems such as cyber-squatting.
