Risk: Informational
Spammers are exploiting the generosity of others by using recent worldwide tragedies for their own financial gain.
Following the cyclone in Burma and the earthquake in China, spammers have been sending various phishing emails, Trojans disguised as news reports and donation requests.
Unfortunately many of these donation requests are phishing scams that will ask the recipient personal questions in order to gain information that may be used for identity theft.
Users are urged to delete these emails straight away and those who would like to donate money to help victims should do so via established charity websites such as the Red Cross.
