The update fixes some vulnerabilities, which may cause a DoS or potentially compromise a vulnerable system, if exploited by attackers.

The DoS vulnerability is an unspecified error within the DTLS implementation.

Debain has also patched a security issue, which if successfully expolited, may lead to weak cryptographic key material. It is caused due to the random number generator in Debian's OpenSSL package being predictable.

The security issue is reported in Debian's OpenSSL packages starting with 0.9.8c-1.
