Security experts are warning online banking customers about a Windows virus that can steal login details.

It is thought that the virus has infected aroud 5,000 machines. Victims are tricked into visiting malicious websites that use vulnerabilities in Microsoft's browser to install the attack code.

If the virus is successfully installed it can download other malicious programs, such as keyloggers, to steal confidential information.

The malicious programme is able to lie in wait until the user logs into an online banking system. An attacker may then be able to steal the users' information.

Computers running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 may all be vulnerable to the virus.
