Risk: Informational
Google has announced Knol, a website that will rival Wikipedia, the biggest multilingual free-content encyclopedia on the Internet.
As on Wikipedia, the information on Knol will be free to access. However, authors will be able to attach advertising to their work and take a share of revenues.
Knol authors will not be able to contribute anonymously or be able to edit other entries. Knol are hoping that the authors will be able to compete for advertising income by submitting separate pieces on one particular topic.
Google are hoping to launch Knol in the next few months.
