Search engine Ask has launched AskEraser, which allows users to immediately delete search queries usually stored on the servers.

Other search engine rivals, such as Google, store data on their servers for up to18 months. As a result of the popularity of social networking sites, Internet users are becoming increasingly aware of their online privacy and a site that is not profiting from such information is a welcome change.

The AskEraser link will feature in the subject bar on the Ask.com homepage. A user can choose to delete all future search queries and associated cookie information from its server.

Although Ask's new feature is an intelligent step in the right direction, is the idea enough to lure users away from Google?
