In the last two months of 2006, British consumers spent more than £6.6 billion online and during 2007 this figure is due to increase.

Despite retailers benefiting from the increasing rise in online shopping, APACS reports that online, phone and mail order fraud is up by 44% when compared to the same period last year.

Online retailers should begin to implement more stringent security polices for customers who shop online. If this type of fraud continues to increase, customers may loose faith in purchasing online.

NTA Monitor urges online retailers to tighten their security in order to help prevent customers falling victim to fraud.
