Seven vulnerbilities have been identified in Apple's QuickTime, which if exposed may lead to attackers remotely executing malicious code.

Six of the flaws may allow attackers to remotely run malicious software on a PC and the seventh flaw, which resides in Java, may allow unauthorised users to gain elevated privileges.

QuickTime is considered to be an attractive target for attackers because it is widely installed on a variety of Windows and Mac operating systems. Attackers are thought to be targeting Apple due to its increasing popularity.

The vast majority of QuickTime attacks require a victim to be tricked into clicking on a malicious link first.
