Six critical and three important issues have been patched in the latest Microsoft advisory, fixing flaws in a variety of programs.

The critical issues have been found in Microsoft XML Core Services, OLE Automation, Excel, Internet Explorer, GDI and Vector Markup Language and successful exploitation of any of these flaws could result in remote code execution.

The important vulnerabilities were found in Windows Media Player, Windows Gadgets and Virtual PC and Virtual Server. Successful exploitation of the flaws in Windows Media Player and Windows Gadgets could result in in remote code execution and successful exploitation of the vulnerability in Virtual PC and Virtual Server could result in privilege elevation.
