PayPal is introducing security tokens in an effort to improve its security and minimise the effectiveness of phishing attacks. Every 30 seconds, the token generates a random, six-digit code which is then used as part of the login process for PayPal's site.

More and more businesses are starting to utilise security tokens as part of their authentication processes, especially financial organisations that have traditionally suffered extensively at the hands of phishers. PayPal is planning to offer the tokens, which will cost customers $5 each, to US customers initially, followed by a UK trial later this year.
