Risk: Low
The 'happy new year' worm is spreading through malicious attachments called postcard.exe.
The worm is reportedly spreading at the rate of five emails per second and roughly 160 servers are being used to spread it. When the malicious attachment is opened, variants of Tibs, Nuwar, Banwarum and Glowa are installed onto users' computers, as well as two rootkit files that prevent the malware from being discovered. It spreads by spamming out mail to infect other computers.
