Risk: High
Seven vulnerabilities were addressed in Microsoft's December security bulletin, three of which were ranked as 'critical' and four as 'important'.
The three critical flaws were found in Internet Explorer, Visual Studio 2005 and Windows Media Player and successful exploitation of any of them could result in remote code execution.
The four important flaws were found in Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Windows, Outlook Express and Remote Installation Service (RIS). Successful exploitation of the flaw in Windows could allow escalation of user privileges; successful exploitation of all other flaws could result in remote code execution.
