McDonald's is recalling Flash mp3 players given away in Japan after discovering up to 10,000 are loaded with a Trojan, and Apple finds a Windows virus on some of its video iPods.

When those in posession of infected mp3 players connected them to a Windows PC, they were exposed to spyware code programmed to transmit their web passwords to hackers. A Japanese language statement at:

http://www.mcd-holdings.co.jp/news/2006/release-061013.html

explains how to decontaminate affected mp3s, or those affected can exchange them for uncontaminated players.

Meanwhile, it has also come to light that some of Apple's video iPods (Apple says less than 1%) sold after 12th September are carrying the Windows Trojan RavMonE.exe. Apple has received 25 reports of customers having encountered the virus on their iPod and running anti-virus software on your PC whilst the video iPod is connected should detect and remove the virus. If Apple customers have any concern about their new video iPod, Apple has published further details on its website at http://www.apple.com/support/windowsvirus/
