A new proof-of-concept virus has come to light that creates malicious code to infect Linux and Microsoft Windows. Virus.Linux.Bi.a/Virus.Win32.Bi.a. is the latest proof-of-concept code that can infect file formats for both Windows and Linux. It infects Linux ELF and Windows PE format files and only infects files in the current directory.

Although the virus has no practical application, it does highlight the emergence of cross-platform viruses.
