Reports of infected Valentine's Day e-cards appeared in the run-up to 14th February. Valentine's Day is big business in the UK; aside from Christmas, it's the most popular card-buying event of the year, so it's no surprise that hackers have turned their attentions to amorous emailers.

There seem to be two types of malicious emails circulating - one contains a malicious attachment and one directs the recipient to a fake dating website. The victim may not be aware that they are being redirected to a fake website and could be duped into providing their bank account or personal details.

Even opening some of the emails can prove dangerous, as a message can be delivered to the sender to confirm that the email address is live. Under no circumstances should attachments sent from an unfamiliar email address be opened and all email users should remain cautious when using email.
